Wizard's Roost
Wizard’s Roost site was accidentally discovered during a cultural survey for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1977.
After assessment by local experts, including Jack Evans, retired director of Sunspot Solar Observatory, it was determined that Wizard’s Roost was an azimuthal back sight for a solstice-centric observation post.
One alignment confirmed tracing the heliacal rise of Sirius, the Dog Star, dating the site to approximately 100 B.C.E to A.D. 900.
