Navajo Sand Paintings
Navajo culture reflects heavily on ethno-astronomy in its tales of the constellations and cosmology. Navajo sand paintings reflect these stories with ornate designs. Authentic sand paintings are rarely photographed, as they are considered sacred. To create an authentic sand painting solely for viewing would be considered a profane act.
