Cannon Air Force Base

Outside Clovis, New Mexico resides the front gate of Cannon AFB.  Originally established as Portair Field in the 1920s, the base became a World War II-era training field for the Army Air Forces.

Fundamentally a fighter jet base for over 50 years, the location was transferred to Air Force Special Operations Command in 2006, and charged with training Air Commandos in a variety of special operations missions.
